Lochailort, Scotland – Maxi-METHS + AGM 2017

30th Annual Reunion - Tuesday 12th to Friday 15th September 2017

Twenty four members plus two guests and a dog made the trip up North to Morar for the AGM which was held in the Lochailort Hotel on the road to Mallaig.

Tuesday

George had organized a walk to visit one of the many Prince Charlie caves.  The walk was a two mile hike where, from the top, there were fine views down Loch Beoraid.

The going underfoot was very boggy and this set the pattern for the rest of the meet.

Wednesday

Sgurr Eireagoraidh was the target for the day.  The first part of the walk to Loch an Nostarie was fine but after the loch it was extremly boggy.  But all managed to survive to tell the tale.

Meanwhile at the same time as George’s group were ploughing through the bogs Polevault led seven unsuspecting souls on a walk to Peanmannaich.  This was supposed to be an easy stroll but turned out to be rough and boggy.  Val Wallace and others spent the day bog free wandering around Arisaig with coffee stops

Thursday

A visit to the island of Eigg had been arranged and we all set off on the MV Shearwater, but sorry to say that as a change from bogs it was a case of avoiding sea sickness as the crossing was very rough.  We all survived, though some were a bit queasy on reaching dry land.

The Sgurr of Eigg was to be climbed and again the going was good at first but once off the track it was back to the bogs.  All reached the summit but care had to be taken due to the steep drop as you can see from the photo.  Polevault and Valerie wandered off to do their own thing while rest of the group investigated the delights of Eigg.

Then it was back to the MV Shearwater for another roller coaster voyage back to Arisaig.

Friday

Beinn Resipol which stands in solitary splendour in the centre of Sunart was the challenge for the day and 15 members signed up for another wonderful day in the bogs.  9 ladies went to investigate walks around Mallaig while Polevault headed out on his own to try and photograph otters (with no luck).
