METHS Afloat - Amphibious Mini-METHS, sailing/cruising based on Murter, Croatia.

Participants:  Dave (Pugwash) McMullan (leader and skipper), Eric (Polevault) and Val Scott.

After much effort Captain Pugwash only managed to press-gang two METHS members to sail his ship in search of the Croatian FB.  And so it was that Polevault and Mrs Polevault found themselves on board the 31-ft yacht MARIO as crew members sailing out of Murter on the Croatian coast.  Our first stop was in small town called Tribunj where Val (Mrs Polevault) was fascinated by the number of Bidets in the ladies showers.  But this was not the FB that the Capn was looking for, so the next day we set sail for Šibenik.  Again we drew a blank.  We had heard that there was an FB further Inland at the Krka falls near a small village called Skradin which could be reached by sea, where we eventually moored in the afternoon.  The falls were spectacular and so was Valerie's, she took a step too far in her enthusiasm searching for the FB that she fell about 10 ft and cracked her collar bone, but alas no FB was found...  Returning to the boat a doctor checked her over and gave the all clear to continue the search.  Our next stop was in Vodice but again we drew a blank.  Finally after a week of excellent sailing,( and plenty yo ho ho) with the boat stomping along at a sobering 7 knots most days we had to give up looking for the FB and jump ship to start the journey home to make sure that our livers were still in order.

It is rumoured that Capn Pugwash has acquired an ancient map from an ’Indiana Jones’ which shows that the fabled FB may be in Greece and that he will be signing on crew members next year to continue the search.
