We've just returned from NZ mini-Meths - very tough particularly first day which was mostly spent traversing Roberts Ridge in high winds, sleet with zero visibility. We just made it to the hut before nightfall, exhausted. It snowed all night, but sunny the next morning (see attached picture of Verena outside hut with improvised Schneeschaufel). We spent the next day incarcerated in the hut, drying out etc. and had to abandon any thoughts of Angelus Peak. The descent to Lake Rotoiti down the Cascade trail was also a mission. Usual hilarious, alcoholic final night's dinner at Alpine Lodge, St. Arnaud.
